/Iranian/ women[/in Iran] are compelled to put on[/wear] at least a headscarf and to cover /their/ forearms and legs when outside. But [enforcement of] good hijab [by] Iran's morality police ha[s] be[come] much[/a lot] less rigorous in recent years, as women have pushed the limits of what is legal. In fashion-conscious Iranian households, dozens of colourful headscarves hang from /the hooks of/ a rank of hijab [hooks by the door]. Though many Iranian women stay covered [even] in the presence of male relatives at home, millions of [more] liberal minded ones fling off their veils the moment[as soon as] they step inside.

A new social media campaign named[/called] "My [Stealthy] Freedom" launched [an] expatriate Iranian/s/ living in London seeks to challenge the orthodoxy. The Facebook group [which has] attracted 500,000 fans [in] under [a] month invites women to post photos[/images] of themselves without cover[unveiled and] outside. Hundreds of them have offered up images [at] familiar sites, from the depths of Teheran's metro to the heights of Milad Tower, Iran's tallest [building]. I loathe [the] hijab, [one] Facebooker wrote under her photograph. I too like my hair to feel the sun and /let/ [the] wind [to] touch/es/ my hair. Is that a big sin?

But many Iranian women, irritated by the almost gleeful attention /caused by/ the Facebook campaign [has arounsed] in the western media, feel this[/it] is not the right way ahead. This battle should not be fought by people[someone] /living/ outside Iran, says a 33-year-old Teheran tourism worker, who is no fan of [the] hijab. Attracting international attention means a crackdown. The clergy ha[ve] been piqued by the campaign as[since the] hijab is a symbol of cleric[al] control.

Iran's cyber police are fighting back. Courts have moved to block InstagramWhatsApp[, while] six women who /had/ shared a video of themselves dancing sans hijab to an American pop song were arrested. The cyber authorities said they had been weak in the face of enemy plots and vowed to step up /the/ enforcement.
